My Background
I grew up in El Cajon California. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Westmont College, as well as a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
(grades K–8) from San Diego State University. I previously taught fifth grade at Cornerstone Christian School in Poway and am currently serving as a substitute teacher within the Poway Unified School District, working in both general education and special education settings. I also taught Sunday School at my church for 17 years.
My Philosophy of Education
I strongly believe that every child learns in a unique way and brings individual strengths and needs to the learning process. Tutoring allows me to provide personalized, targeted instruction tailored to each student’s specific learning style and goals. I strive to meet students where they are academically and emotionally, using positive reinforcement and consistent encouragement to build confidence, foster growth, and support long-term academic success. I just wanted to say how much I appreciated Brooke’s tutoring. She personally tutored my son, Sammy, during his 5th grade year. Returning to school after the pandemic, he was performing below grade level and had little confidence in academics which was creating a downward spiral of discouragement. Brooke took a very encouraging and patient approach with him to slowly build his confidence. At first, it was just getting him to commit his time to doing something he hated. That turned into a regular routine where he knew he could perform his homework with her help. Slowly he built confidence to do most of the work himself with her as his biggest cheerleader. She would be the first person he called when he did well on a school project. Now that he is in 6th grade, he is a totally different student. He now has the highest grade in his math class and is back to grade level in reading and writing. I absolutely do not think that would have been possible without Brooke’s help. She is a very kind and compassionate person, and I highly recommend her for any child that needs a little boost of confidence and improvement in studying habits.
